MYSQL DBA
Must Haves:
- 5 years experience as database administrator and 2 years experience as a MySQL database administrator for a website.
- Strong understanding of relational database architecture concepts.
- Strong hands-on experience administering commercial large-scale databases: installation, upgrade, database/SQL performance tuning and I/O tuning experience.
- Knowledge of two or more of the following: Unix/Linux shell scripting, Perl, Python, C/C++, Java. Knowledge of Python.
- Proficient knowledge of low-level UNIX / Linux system administration/internals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create strong working relationships with cross-functional teams.
Pluses:
- BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related field
or equivalent practical experience. - Experience with scripting and programming languages.
- MySQL and Linux experience.
Day to Day:
- Write and maintain automation for hundreds of MySQL instances. Will need to know how to loop, test and iterate.
- Make sure new data structures are clean and can be rolled onto production systems.
- Replicate, set up, fix, monitor and tune systems as well as understand its problems, strengths and weaknesses.
- Initiate large DML updates on production systems (pushes/releases).
