Position : SQL DBA
Location : Syracuse, NY
Duration : 6+ months
It would be six months contract to hire so MUST be a Green Card holder and excellent communication skills

You will participate in database design, development & overall strategic planning. *
The technologies used for our applications include several technologies including Silverlight, C# ASP.NET, Classic ASP, WPF, and SQL Reporting Services.
As a DBA, your primary duties will be monitoring all databases as well as performing general DBA activities. *You will work with many others including web designers, project managers and application developers as a team who are focused on business applications.* You are expected to be highly analytical and should have the ability to grasp business requirements and translate them into technical solutions with the team. **Working well with others is very important.
Primary Responsibilities: Support day to day development activities working with the application development team as it relates to the databases
· Monitor database performance
· Administer performance tuning, troubleshoot complex queries and performance issues, normalize data, optimize queries, re-index
· Run regular system performance tests and peer review queries in some cases
· Recommend improvements based on best practices concerning the general health of all systems
· Participate in production support calls and activities on a 24x7x365 basis
· Coordinate off-hours patching, updates, server reboots and any other maintenance necessary
· Administer recovery & backup plans
· Create databases, tables, indexes, build queries, write functions, procedures etc.
· Provide ad hoc reporting
· Implement security measures
· Work with current Oracle DBA daily to create a seamless database infrastructure
Requirements:
· 5 years or more experience with SQL Server database administration
· Strong ability to rewrite complex queries to improve performance
· Proven working knowledge of complex RDBMS design concepts
· Ability to prioritize, multitask and work independently or with any IT teams
· Ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to convey a strong presence, professional image, and deal confidently with complex technical problems
· Ability to demonstrate accomplishments and abilities during interview
