Technical Skills & Knowledge:  

 

Primary Skills: Sr. SQL DBA, MS SQL 2008/2008 R2/2012, SSIS, SQL Agent, SSRS,

Responsibilities:

• Experience with installation and administration of MSSQL 2008/2008 R2/2012 (preferred) standalone and clustered instances.
• Experience with industry standard best practices for installing, securing, operating, and maintaining MSSQL
• Experience with enterprise level permissions management for MSSQL, SSIS, SQL Agent, and SSRS
• Experience with performance troubleshooting, tuning and optimization for MSSQL server and databases using Windows/SQL performance counters, DMVs, DMFs, SQL Server Profiler, Query Execution Plans, Database Engine Tuning Advisor, etc.
• Experience with MS SQL maintenance plans / concepts, backups, restores, and recovery models.
• Experience with high availability and disaster recovery options for MSSQL such as clustering, mirroring, log shipping, replication, AlwaysOn, etc.
• Experience working with Windows 2008 R2, including Active Directory, SPNs, clustering sufficient to configure/administrate MSSQL instances
• Experience in implementing operational automation using scripting technologies such as PowerShell.
• Experience with indexes, index management, statistics and optimization concepts.
• Experience with database file group configurations and optimal disk/volume configurations for best performance of OLTP or OLAP/ data warehouses / marts. 
• Knowledge of SSIS administration sufficient to manage msdb / SSIS Catalog (2012) and delegate various levels of access to end users
• Knowledge of SQL Agent administration sufficient to operate and maintain jobs, schedules, and delegate various levels of access to end users
• Knowledge of SQL Management Server and usage including benefits and limitations of multi-server queries
• Basic SSRS administration
• Basic familiarity with DNS and networking sufficient to support SQL hosts
• Ability to design and document processes and procedures (BKMs, runbooks, architecture topology, DR and BC plans, etc.)
• Ability to train Level 1 & 2 personnel to resolve common requests and known issues.
• Ability to engage with developers and end users to troubleshoot and resolve access, operational and performance issues.
• Ability to operate in a multi-tiered path to production environment (Ex: dev à testàprod)
