Cognos Data Analyst
- Perform routine maintenance tasks of Cognos and Cognos TM1 servers.
- Provide technical support with any necessary changes throughout the Budget development lifecycle. Design and develop new processes, applications, and reports as required to support the budget development and implementation.
- Provide data to any other new downstream systems on demand, and on a regular frequency. Develop, support, and maintain reporting solutions
- Convert business requirement(s) into technical specifications and reporting solutions.
- Responsible for ad hoc SQL queries to review data, interrogate data, prototype reports, determine requirements, and fix data errors.
- Implement Cognos TM1 Solutions by strategizing and designing a Cognos solution based on data availability, environment, user, situation and logistics.
- Design and develop IBM Cognos TM1 applications required to perform accounting and finance functions, including budge/ forecast/planning systems, automate business processes and meet business requirements of all business units.
- Act as a subject matter expert on IBM Cognos TM1, manage metadata, understand business rules, develop and maintain complex financial modeling. Generate special reporting needed for this regulatory process. Design and implement new system functionalities utilizing the available technology as required.
- Responsible for building Cognos reports, cubes, dashboards, and framework manager packages to solve the BI needs of the user community.
- Modify complex Business Logic into TM1 Rules and increase performance by writing feeders.
- Create Drill through Process from TM1 Cube to database for querying transaction level data.
- Support existing customer reports and cubes as well as verification and reconciliation of data.
- Support and the administration of Cognos environment including software configuration, maintenance, and documentation.
- Write complex SQL queries to pull data from various data sources (Oracle, Salesforce extracts, etc.) for reporting.
Experience Level
Candidate must have at least 2 years' experience in Cognos TM1 or Cognos Express. At least 3 years' experience in OLAP database / modeling skills - At least 5 years' experience in Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Warehouse (DW) initiatives - At least 1 year experience in TM1 presentation tools and/or TM1 modeling tools and, 2 years of experience in MS SharePoint is preferred. • Resource must have a minimum of 3-5 years of paid referenceable experience in the installation, configuration, administration and design/development of COGNOS reporting solutions. • Resource must have a minimum of 3-5 years' experience as a database administrator (that preferably includes SQL and Oracle 11i or above) • Experience with supported versions of PeopleSoft or other large ERP systems is desirable. • IBM Cognos TM1 Certification preferred. • Experience with design and implementation of TM1 10.1 applications, to include cube design, OLAP, dimension modeling, BI report writing and design (e.g. Report Studio) and analysis (e.g. Analysis Studio) • Experience in solutions within financial planning, budgeting and forecasting. • Knowledge of relational database design and development. • Understanding and experience in TI process /Active Forms / Webforms. • Experience designing new and modifying existing data models. • Must be able to read table design and work with very little documentation. • Ability to communicate effectively with the key business users before, during, and after the development of analytical tools to ensure adequate requirements gathering, development progress, user acceptance and business process integration. • Ability to handle multiple tasks, projects and issues at the same time. • Operate both independently and within a team. • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills. • Familiarity with the SDLC Approach with a focus on the iterative process.
