Qualifications Basic:-
The BI Engineer will be responsible for the full life cycle development of Cognos projects, from user requirements gathering, analysis and database design to implementation, production support, and performance tuning of the Enterprise Data Warehouse, Data Mart, and Business Intelligence Reporting environments, and support the integration of those systems with other applications. The Cognos Engineer will design and implement reporting and analytical solutions across multiple platforms, including both the design of table structures and the processes used to populate those structures with data from internal and external sources.
He/She will have extensive Interaction with architects, analysts, development teams, project managers, internal and external customers, senior management, and external vendors
Essential Functions
• Develop Cognos solutions that exploit information in imaginative and flexible solutions, in line with the agreed corporate strategic approach
• Assist with the gathering and understanding of business objectives and priorities
• Interpret the business analyst's requirements.
• Document and consistently apply policies, processes, standards, methods and tools
• Identify integration opportunities and risks associated with proposed solutions
• Guide and assist projects delivering Cognos solutions and offer ongoing support
• in the exploitation of those solutions
• Working as part of a team and coordinate with Technical Architecture, Other development groups, Operations Users,
• Work with the DBA*s to implement the required changes to the database.
• Develop the Cognos Framework and reports according to best practices.
• Planning, control and execution of Unit and System Testing.
• Support of UAT and Implementation phases.
• Technology Management and Production Support.
• Design and or modify the database structure to be able to support the requirements in a way that is optimal for Cognos.
Required Skills
• A thorough understanding of the Cognos architecture and development best practices
• Experience of the full project development lifecycle with the Cognos solutions development, Cognos Framework Manager, Query Studio and Report Studio, Analysis Studio and Metrics Studio, the Cognos toolsets
• Proficient with PL/SQL and SQL
• Experience of Business Intelligence solutions requirements analysis
• Understanding of SDK and the use of java script and HTML in Cognos
• Minimum work experience
• 5 - 8 Years
Desired Skills
• Experience of implementing relational and multidimensional (MOLAP) tool solutions
• Experience in creation and administration of Extract Transform and Load (ETL) routines
• Experience of Cognos
• Experience integrating Cognos with other web portals
