Senior Technical Support Engineer, Global Delivery and Support

A  Senior Technical Support Engineer plays a key role in maintaining customer satisfaction at all project stages from deployment through end of life. Our customers are typically Fortune 100 accounts adopting the Client Reflex application software for various big data analytics projects.  Our Technical Support Engineers (TSEs) successfully implement our software at some of the most secure and tightly controlled data centers in the US and around the world. Additionally TSEs provide ongoing support for complex systems deployed on leading technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, etc.  Our TSEs gain invaluable experience working on cutting edge big data technologies for top customers in the Telecom/Cable/Wireless space.

Responsibilities:

-          Perform complex day-to-day troubleshooting and resolution of solution issues (HW, Network, OS, DB / SQL, Applications, etc.).

-          Lead performance analysis, proactive troubleshooting, continual improvement and capacity planning for production environments.

-          Review entire environments and execute initiatives to reduce failures, work around defects, and improve overall performance and reliability.

-          Implement and maintain tools for proactive monitoring, planning, and performance tuning of production system.

-          Refine and enhance processes to provide for proper validation of releases that move from development to staging to production environments, providing direct feedback for product improvement.

-          Effectively interact with Engineering, Product and Program Management organizations in order to help execute projects and/or solve issues successfully.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

Technical:

-          Unix/Linux systems administration or systems engineering.

-          Scripting/Programming experience (shell, Perl, C/C++, Python, Java)

-          SQL proficiency, familiarity with multiple DBMS, PostgreSQL desired.

-          Apache Tomcat/Web browser issues troubleshooting experience.

-          Networking and security best practices.

-          Analysis/Resolution of performance, scalability and reliability issues.

-          Hands on experience with enterprise servers/blades (ex. HP, Cisco, Dell)

Non Technical:

-          Demonstrate an adaptive personality, inquisitive nature, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

-          Possess "start-up" creativity and execution, enthusiasm, technical credibility, and follow-through.

-          Must be an eager self-starter with a strong work ethic and an ability to operate independently without much supervision and without complete information/instructions/product guides.

-          Should be able to multi-task effectively and finish projects in a timely fashion.

-          Keep a cool head under fire.

-          Willing to participate in on-call rotations

-          Work well in a team environment – must work closely with engineering and Program Management teams, so relationship building is key.

-          Everyone juggles long-term projects with real-time monitoring and triage, so excellent time management and communication skills are a must.

-          Need the ability to write documentation and the ability to interact effectively with executives and engineers.


Desired Skills:

-          Monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, etc.

-          Solid knowledge of storage protocols like FC, ISCSI and NFS.

-          Familiarity with Big Data solutions – Hadoop, Spark, Hive, etc.

-          Experience working on large distributed systems (multi-site deployments connected to a central system).

-          Experience working in Datacenters and with Tier-1 ISPs.

-          Experience working with offshore teams (India).

 

Education:

Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
