Job Description:
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Information Technology Division is seeking a Geospatial Developer to join the Spatial Intelligence Group in support of three emerging projects. The selected candidate will Design, develop, deploy and support custom and COTS spatial applications leveraging ESRI ArcGIS for Server, relational databases and other geospatial technologies such as ArcGIS Online and Google APIs. Work as part of a larger group sharing knowledge and interacting with business users. Support existing applications by fixing defects and identifying areas for improvement. Participate in internal discussions about design approaches and work estimates for new projects.
Required Experience, Skills, Technologies:
• Recent 4+ years of experience in Geographic Information Systems and web development.
• Creation, consumption and manipulation of ArcGIS for Server SOAP, and REST services.
• Deep knowledge of ArcGIS for Server including the ArcGIS REST API, dynamic and cached map services, feature services, image services, locators, etc. and their use in web mapping applications.
• Proficeint in a variety of modern platforms, languages and APIs (e.g. .Net, C#, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, XML, JSON , Python, PL/SQL, Google APIs, etc).
• Understanding of IIS web server
• ArcSDE with Oracle enterprise geodatabases
• Automate processes using Python which includes geoprocessing via ESRI ModelBuilder, ArcPy site package and ArcObjects.
Preferred Experience, Skills, and Technologies:
• ESRI ArcGIS Online JavaScript API
• ESRI ArcGIS suite version 10.0 and greater
• Knowledge of Linear Referencing Systems
• Microsoft Team Foundation Server
• Microsoft Silverlight API
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems with strong development experience or other applicable and/or equivalent development skills, knowledge and work history.
