Position: Sybase DBA
Location: Milwaukee, WI
Duration: 3-6months
Job Description:
The individual will function as the primary subject matter expert for Sybase database administration service operations.
This involves performing incident and problem resolution, standard service requests, infrastructure monitoring and alert response, and consultation with application support and development staff.
The individual will be part of a 24x7 on call rotation.
Deep experience in Sybase database performance tuning techniques .
Ability to identify and correct gaps in standard operation procedures and checklists.
Competency in ITIL processes: Incident, Problem, Knowledge and Change Management.
Competency in Root Cause Analysis and Cause Mapping Coaching other database administration team members toward a functional understanding of Sybase databases.
Ability to assess varying types of incidents and determine appropriate subject matter experts to involve when necessary.
Basic scripting knowledge: SQL, Unix shell, Perl Basic awareness of other infrastructure technologies for example, Web sphere.
Competency with MS SQL Server and related BI Suite software
