Role:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Engineer (3092) – 6+ month contract located near DFW Airport

 

Build and automation engineer for Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Required:

Bachelor degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field, or equivalent experience
8-10 years of experience required

Must be able to build multiple servers from kickstart, scripts, VMware templates, and ISO images

Must have strong scripting skills in one of ksh, csh, bash, Perl, or Python

Must have a strong background in troubleshooting of automation
Must have strong experience with enterprise level concepts including high availability, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, multipathing for HBAs and NICs, clustering at the OS level, and shared SAN storage and NAS.
HBA multi-pathing
NIC teaming
Multi-server clustering
Shell scripting

Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills (Required) 
Strong ability to work independently and manage one's time (Required) 
Strong scripting skills in csh, ksh, bash, Perl, and/or Python (Required) 
Strong ability to troubleshoot issues and coordinate teams to resolve root cause (Required) 
Preference is given to candidates who also have Solaris 10 or 11 experience 

Duties: 
Build new RHEL servers 
Write and troubleshoot scripts to automate system administration tasks 
Configure multi-pathing for storage and network connections 
Handle work requests from multiple customers and deliver in a timely manner 
Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures according to corporate standards 
Provide advanced troubleshooting and mentoring to system administrators 
Develop standards and guidelines for the use of RHEL servers in the data center

 

Responsibility level: 
Exercises independent judgment with minimal direction from supervisor 
Must be able to direct the efforts of a managed service provider to complete server build tasks.
