Review business requirements, plan, design, architect and measure technical solutions aligned to global technology strategies and standards
Requires ability to work effectively on independent projects, as well as in cooperation with a variety of customers and other technical professionals
Provides architectural guidance and technical service to the plan/build/run application teams, as well as guidance and collaboration supporting the Baxter environment in conjunction with outsource providers.
Proactively address significant business issues through technological innovation
Drive global implementation of technology vision
Facilitate the development of professional and technical skills for self,subordinates, and peers
Provide technical guidance to other technical personnel
Manage technical components of large projects
Participate in setting strategic technology directions
Evaluate and recommend products and systems in key technology areas
Work cooperatively with technical personnel in other divisions and functions to accomplish enterprise-wide goals

Identify and implement process improvements in the architecture and/or infrastructure of existing systems

Provide vendor governance for outsourced contracts and manage contract deliverables and SLAs
Establish service-level metrics used to define and measure technology services
Establish and manage effective vendor relationships
Job Requirements:
Strong Oracle RAC database skills
Strong experience and background in Oracle DB versions
Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and technologies
Advanced experience in using RMAN and DataGuard
Expertise with Oracle Enterprise Manager
Expertise trouble-shooting and resolution of production problems and issues as they arise
Demonstrable experience with change management processes and procedures along with ITIL practices
Strong Solaris environment experience
Experience with Oracle database upgrades and application of quarterly Oracle CPU patches
Experience with Veritas Clustering and replication products
Experience with Tivoli and other monitoring tools
Creativity in addressing technical challenges
Ability to work off-hours for system upgrades, emergencies
Team-player who is flexible and able to work with end-users and production issues simultaneously
Experience running mid to large size 24x7 production systems
Oracle Certified Professional OCP, Sun Certifications, or RHEL preferred
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
10+ years of relevant technical experience, including systems analysis, design and implementation
Extensive systems integration experience in a diverse multi-platform environment
Any experience in Oracle Engineered systems is a huge plus |
