The position is with US Census Bureau, a govt dept.

Rate- DoE

Look for locals in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia states

 

Public Trust security clearance is required

 

Work Location: Office building with free parking in the Greenbelt MD area

Work Location Flexibility: On-site predominately with some telework depending on work type, schedule and customer approval

Citizenship Status: U.S. Citizen and Green Card holder (additional clearance requirements)

1.7.       POSITION DESCRIPTION: THE SECURITY ENGINEER WILL WORK UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF THE SECURITY ARCHITECT TO IDENTIFY RELEVANT CYBER THREATS AND CONTROL REQUIREMENTS THAT MUST BE ADDRESSED TO PROMOTE A ROBUST SECURITY POSTURE FOR BOTH A PRIVATE DATA CENTER AND PUBLIC CLOUD OFFERING. SPECIFIC USE CASES (E.G., MOVING CONFIDENTIAL DATA TO THE CLOUD, BACK-UP DATA IN THE CLOUD, THE TREATMENT OF TITLE 13 AND 26 DATA, ETC.) ARE USED AS A FOUNDATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF CLOUD SECURITY TECHNICAL APPROACH FOR THE ENTERPRISE. UNDER GUIDANCE FROM THE SECURITY ARCHITECT, THIS INDIVIDUAL WILL DOCUMENT TECHNICAL APPROACHES TO ASSESS THREATS AND RESIDUAL RISKS, ALONG WITH SPECIFYING THE IMPLEMENTATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE DECENNIAL 2020 CENSUS.

1.8.       RESPONSIBILITIES:

?          WORKING WITH THE INFRASTRUCTURE TEAM, IDENTIFY SPECIFIC AREAS OF CONCERN RELATED TO SECURING SENSITIVE DATA IN A BOTH A CLOUD AND DATA CENTER ENVIRONMENT. 

?          ASSIST WITH DEFINING CLOUD MIGRATION STRATEGIES WHICH WILL ENSURE THE SECURITY AND INTEGRITY OF THE SYSTEM.

?          ASSIST IN PROVIDING BEST PRACTICES FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SYSTEM OF SYSTEMS TO SUPPORT DECENNIAL 2020.

?          WORK CLOSELY WITH THE INFRASTRUCTURE TEAM TO PROVIDE INPUT FOR NON-FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS TO SUPPORT A SECURE ENVIRONMENT

?          PROVIDE ASSISTANCE IN MANAGING FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS RELATED TO SPECIAL CLASSIFICATIONS OF DATA ESPECIALLY TITLE 13 AND 26, FISMA, FEDRAMP, NIST, ETC.

?          GENERATE DOCUMENTATION AS REQUIRED BY THE US CENSUS.

?          5+ YEARS OF INCREASING RESPONSIBILITY FOR POSITIONING AND DELIVERING  INTERNET FACING APPLICATIONS WITH A FOCUS ON SECURITY FOR BOTH CLOUD AND DATA CENTER IMPLEMENTATIONS

?          EXPERIENCE WITH THREAT ASSESSMENT, IDENTIFICATION OF SECURITY MITIGATIONS AND VALIDATION OF THE MITIGATIONS

?          EXPERIENCE WITH IMPLEMENTATION & MANAGEMENT OF INFORMATION SECURITY TECHNOLOGIES AND PROCESSES (E.G., NETWORK SECURITY, APPLICATION SECURITY, DATA PROTECTION, ENCRYPTION, KEY MANAGEMENT, IDENTITY AND ACCESS MANAGEMENT, SECURITY GOVERNANCE, OPERATIONS SECURITY) IN A IAAS, PAAS, OR SAAS ENVIRONMENT

?          EXPERIENCE WITH WEB SERVICES SECURITY

?          ABILITY TO PROVIDE SPECIFIC GUIDANCE ON SECURITY REQUIREMENTS AND MITIGATIONS FOR SECURING BUSINESS USE CASES WITH DEFENSE IN DEPTH

?          KNOWLEDGE OF INFORMATION SECURITY STANDARDS (TITLE 13 & 26, NIST, FEDRAMP, FISMA), RULES AND REGULATIONS RELATED TO INFORMATION SECURITY AND DATA PROTECTION, AND CLOUD SECURITY ALLIANCE BEST PRACTICES AND GUIDELINES

?          KNOWLEDGE OF VULNERABILITY MANAGEMENT, OTHER DETECTION & RESPONSE TECHNIQUES WHILE INTEGRATING SECURITY END TO END IN A FAST-PACED ENVIRONMENT

?          TOOLS/TECHNOLOGY EXPERIENCE: BROAD KNOWLEDGE OF SECURITY TOOLS FOR BOTH CLOUD AND DATA CENTER, INCLUDING COMMERCIAL AND OPEN SOURCE
